![]() The Registration form is up for the April 3rd Special Event. The Arizona Region will be hosting our second Mirrorkhana Event. There will be no on site registration or online registration for this event. If you are interested, please submit your registration form as soon as possible, as we are limited to 64 entries due to the format. The cost of the event is $60 for members and $65 for non-members (covers fee for temporary memberships). For your entry fee you will receive 4 morning “qualifying runs”. The afternoon will be the “Double-Elimination” and the “Winners of the Losers” bracket. (Those of you who are eliminated in two runs will be eligible for the "Winners of the Losers" bracket.) Overall, you will be guaranteed at least 7 runs and the winner, if they play their cards right, may receive up to 9 runs (dependent on reaching on entry cap). I have also included first event’s course map and will be replacing it with the new on as soon as it is completed. http://www.azsolo.com/forums/index.php?act...post&id=503 We will be running three brackets SP+, ST1/ST2, and Stock. Staging distances will be based on PAX factors. Novices will be permitted with the Event Chair’s approval. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail. For those of you who are not familiar with a Mirrorkhana, it is a double elimination event. Two cars start on the opposite sides of the same course (but on adjacent straights) at the same time. The car that runs the course and reaches it’s own finish line first wins! Click on the link below and see videos and a demonstration of how the course is run. http://www.doublexchallenge.com/ Edit: Please remember to give the telephone number for your emergency contact!

Woo hoo! Back again after a one year hiatus... This should be a really good event from a driving/competition standpoint, because it was last time, but from a spectator standpoint I might be even more excited. With all the new STR cars that have been running lately it's going to be great to see them duke it out head to head!!!
Can't wait!!! For those of you new to the Mirrorkhana format, check out the link above in Mindi's post and if that doesn't help, post your questions here and we'll help! Or for those of you who do get it..... Let the smack talk begin!!!! -------------------- My wagon was cooler than yours.

What are the chances you'd be willing to take the registration forms and money at the March event?

Brad- I'm sorry, but I won't be at the March event to collect money. Hopefully, that won't prevent you from mailing in your entry fee. Mindi -------------------- Mindi Cross

We will be running three brackets SP+, ST1/ST2, and Stock. Staging distances will be based on PAX factors. This part confuses me. No street touring classes? So I'd run in the ST1/ST2 class with a FSP PAX index, right? -------------------- Brock Palmer

Dave M., yes they are just practice runs, but it's more fun to call them qualifying runs
Brock you (all Street Touring classes) will actually be running against the Stock class group. This is because your (all Street Touring classes) normal PAX is based on you using ST's and Stock class car's normal PAX is based on running R-Tires. In this comp you will be running ST's and the Stock class guys should be running R-tires so we can apply your PAX factors against each other fairly. If we were to have Street Touring guys run against the ST1/ST2 guys who's classes are normally based on running R-Tires and they aren't using R-tires their PAX factors go right out the window. This is the same reason Street Touring is not allowed in ST1/ST2 at our normal events, but you can run Street Touring in classes like SPM/PRO which is all PAX score based. Now that all that is straightened out, go fill out your form and mail it in before the event fills up!!! -------------------- My wagon was cooler than yours.

How does this work if someone nails a cone? Still a 2 sec penalty? What if the cone ends up throwing the 2nd driver off course?

If you hit a cone on course, you will receive a DNF and your competitor automatically wins the bracket, unless of course the your competitor hits a cone. -------------------- Mindi Cross

So if you run STS normally, you would run in Stock? Yes; because your PAX factor accounts for the fact that you drive on street tires. Mindi -------------------- Mindi Cross

Darn...if I wanna run this, looks like I'll have to shell out the money real quick for both tires and entry fee...Looks like fun though. Even if I can't run (which is most likely the right choice to make right now), I'll still go to take photos and video

So if you run STS normally, you would run in Stock? Yes, you would compete in the stock class bracket using the STS pax factor. Keep in mind the PAX factors are being converted to a starting distance advantage. This example is completely made up so don't qoute me, but an STS car competing against an HS stock may start 20' behind the starting line while the HS car starts right on the starting line. This is how the event is handicapped. First car to the finish line wins. So that means you need to have a good "launch" and your reaction time needs to be good so that you don't give up your advantage all at the start (if you are the HS car in this example). That's where all the fun comes from in this style event. You have a starter person who drops his hands "pinks style" and then you both take off as quick as you can. First one to the finish line wins, no clocks, no times, no BS. As far as the cone issue goes, like Mindi said it's a DNF. However if a equal number of cones are hit by the two competitors the win goes to who finishes first. -------------------- My wagon was cooler than yours.
