I didn't get any of the black cars at 694?!! Pissed.

I used the Monolta I think.

I'm at almost 700 days and 58.7% completed. 100 of those days were probably spent on the ring biggrin.gif

I used the F1 car for the championship. I'm a weenie like that, though.

Jason, the black cars (787B, R390GT1, GT-one, and R92CP) are spread out between the used lots in the week ranging from Day 694-700. They're a hair low on power compared to their non-used counterparts, but the paint job is worth it ph34r.gif. Just remember, getting in a car, buying wheels, doing a race, or buying a car uses a day, so don't screw around too much during that week. They'll come around again at day 1394, in case you missed it the first time- it's a 700 day cycle.

The Minolta race car's one of the Group C cars, you win it in the El Capitan enduro. It's not quite as fast as the Nissans, but there won't be many situations where that's really a problem. Personally, I'd rather do the Fuji race to get the Nissan R92CP.

You can get an F1 car by winning the 24hr Nurburgring race. The competition's pretty weak- the fastest thing in the field is either an Audi TT touring car, or Falken GT-R race car. Just get some sort of fast race car, super hard tires, and B-spec it. Once you get it, I've found that the F1 car is a whole lot more stable if you take out a couple kg/mm of rear spring, so it's less likely to come around on you if you hit a bump on corner exit. After making that change, if there's a race you can't win it, it's not a problem with the car wink.gif.

Here's a full prize car list: http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=56522

Using up days isn't an issue, it's not like the game cuts you off at some point. Just try to have about $6 million on hand for Day 694 for the black cars smile.gif.

Looks like I'll be waiting a while for the Black cars since I'm at 1005 days now.
Wish I knew about that before.
So the black cars are $1mil/ea?

I've beat all the "national" races ie: American, japanese, etc
And I've beaten all the Beginner, Pro, Enduro, and Extreme races.

Off to the missions, special cond., and manufacturer races! blink.gif

$6mill.. i was told 3.5million ohmy.gif Ive been using all my money on cars to do little races like manufacturer races cuz i thouhg i only needed 3.5... guess ill get my butt movin

I started the 24hr ring enduro... Whats w/ the computers never pitting, i mean.. i can only go two laps... maybe 3 max at "slow down" the whole way on the hardest race tire yet they can go 10 laps? same w/ the other enduro i did.. i had to pit 2-3times more than them blink.gif

Hm, it might only be 3.5mil, it's been a while since I got them.

Don't forget that dirt & snow tires aren't required for the wet & tarmac rallies, and with no tire wear, super softs are definitely the way to go. And they work great in the wet, too blink.gif.

I'm a bit late to this thread, haven just gotten a PS2 and GT4 last week smile.gif

It's my goal to win the Supercar series in a Ford Mustang, but so far the game is pissing me off by using non-production cars to beat me with (the Cien specifically, which it won't let ME enter into the series since it's a non-production car).

So far I've got 2 golds and 3 silvers, but the races with super-long straights seem to always have a Cien there to hammer me with and keep me from taking 1st. I can keep the ol' ponycar ahead of the W12's, and GT's.. but not that dumb Cien, it just walks away from me.

I did find a kind of interesing thing. I finally got around to taking a whack at the 'compact' series (4000mm or less) in the pro-series, but I didn't want to drive one of those wussy import econ-boxes. Strangely enough, a 1967 Shelby AC Cobra comes in just a hair under 4000mm.. muahaha..

560hp, 950kg weight = subcompact destruction. In the first 3 lap race I was a good 1/2 lap ahead of the field when I crossed the finish line in my AC, which I've only got the 1st NA engine upgrade on (just enough to qualify it for the supercar series).

Pretty fun game.

The one really irritating thing about it so far - is there ANY way to get the stupid game to default to 1080i mode? I have to go into options and set that every time I start up the game, and it seems like something that would be 'settable' to remember.

I have a small, old TV (19", at least it has S-video), so I can't help you with the 1080i problems.

Trying to duplicate your New York issues has mostly taught me that Mustangs suck in that game laugh.gif. Both the Cobra Arrrrrr and '05 GT push like crazy under braking, and blow away Sport Soft tires all the way through 3rd gear- going lighter on the rear wing in order to improve the push when braking just means you'll spin 4th gear, too rolleyes.gif. With an auto-setting around 17, and manually adjusting 3rd to be as tall as possible, on warm tires, it's possible to keep it hooked up in 3rd gear- if you roll onto the throttle and it's already going straight.

I can't seem to run against a Cien in that series, and a ZZII was the toughest competition I found, but either the R or '05 GT should be able to touch 1:39's at NY once the tires warm up, which seems to be good enough for the win. If not, just go back to the race sometime when a Cien isn't in the field.

I just completed getting GOLD on ALL the license tests. I received many cars for doing so and the final one was 1915 model T.

I have to say I'm pretty damn proud of myself. It was pretty tough. Dont know if anyone else has taken the time to do so, but I found it fun and challenging

I don't think I've actually played GT4 since that post I made on March 27th when I said it would be my last for a while. Hmm. Oh well.

I enjoy the racing, but the test portion of GT4 always pissed me off. Nothing but time wasting crap, takes more time cycling through the loading sequences to get the tests started than actual driving.

I got through the first two licenses before it irritated me enough that I put in the cheats to give me all the licenses, stupid tests just get in the way of actually playing the game and having fun.

I find them more fun then the racing because they are kind of like autocross. You are just trying to beat the clock. The super license is cool because they are full course runs and it helps you learn the courses. I now know the ring like the back of my hand. I probably never would have never learned it otherwise. Next step is those missions at least I will get money for those. I only have like ten of those so far.

I'm gonna go shop for a nice gold chain with a gt4 medallion! laugh.gif

For anyone that's late to the GT4 party and still wants to play, I noticed that Costco sells a GT4 bundle. You get the PS2, Driving Force Pro, a memory card, and GT4 for $329. Online only.

Ben is the Driving Force Pro any good? I haven't even played GT4 yet, but it looks like I'll be living by myself for a little while in my transition to back to Tucson. I thought getting GT4 would be good. I already have a PS2 so I don't need the whole bundle.

Driving force pro wheel IS sliced bread!
GT4 is a fun game... but when you umleash the GFP wheel onto a computer driving sim of your choice then you have "seem the light" everyone is talking about!!
