Road Construction Notice!
There is a lot of construction at the exit on I-10 to Maricopa Road.
There is some access to southbound I-10; but it is temporary and
not well marked. Also, we cannot be sure the Maricopa exit will be
open on the weekend due to construction.
It is better to use Exit 164 further south for Queen Creek Road.
After exiting proceed west for 1.7 miles and then turn right onto
Maricopa Road (sign to Firebird and large casino billboard).
Then drive 1.3 miles to the traffic light and turn right into Gate 3
at Firebird. Return to I-10 in the reverse manner.
Event Details:
Gates will be open at 6:30am Friday, Saturday and Sunday and gates will be
locked promptly at 9pm. No camping will be allowed on site.
We will be enforcing a 98 dBA (A weighting @50') sound limit on vehicles.
The SCCA page which states the limit is 93 is incorrect .
Bikes, scooters, etc., or other motorized equipment is okay for use in the
main parking lot but are not allowed in the active grid/course area. However,
these transportation devices may be parked in the paddock area behind the
fence at the gate to the grid area for quick access.
Grid located due east from the skidpad area and south of the tent.
Registration will be handled 100% by the National office. You can register
online or use the mail in form. Maximum entries is set to 300, don't delay your
registration!
The National office has the 2004 rule books and they will be available for
sale if you do not have copy yet.
The Friday practice day will be from 11am-3pm. The format will be an open
run order with assigned times that you "work". Workers will be switched
"on the fly" with minimal announcements so please report on time for your
work assignment. Sign up for a 30 minute work session to be eligible to purchase
"run tickets". $10 for 6, or $2 each. The practice day course will be on the
same skidpad as the National Tour course, so the full Tour course won't be
open for walking until the practice day is over. Plan on bringing a flashlight or
small lantern to assist with walking the course both days.
You must tech your car prior to running the practice day. Tech will be
located near the entrant of the grid. Make sure you have all required decals and
numbers on your car prior to showing up at tech.
A Phoenix local photographer, Cecil Walker (cecilwalker@hotmail.com), will
be taking pictures all weekend long and will have them available for sale onsite.
Official "Phoenix National Tour" T-shirts will be available for sale through our
Goodie Store as well. Limited hours of operation.
More details in "information flyer".
Local area hotels and some restaurant suggestions given on Firebird website
reference page. Hotels can also be found using a web travel site such as
Expedia, Hotels.com, Travelocity or Yahoo.
Many local restaurants and other services can be found north of Firebird
just off of I-10 at Chandler Blvd, Ray Road, and Elliot Road. There is also
a large casino just across the Maricopa Road from Firebird.
